How do I remove/disable a user from a course?

Disable a User from a Course

  1. In the Control Panel, click the Users and Groups shortcut.
  2. Click the Down arrow icon next to the student you want to disable.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  4. Select "Change Users Availability in this course"
  5. Set "Available" to NO
  6. Click "Submit"
  7. Click the OK button.

The student is disabled.  They will appear in your roster, and visible in the gradebook, but they will have a disabled icon next to their name and not calculated into any gradebook averages.

This process has changed as it is important to maintain records associated with students who are administratively withdrawn. It is no longer possible for Instructors to remove students from courses.  Students should be disabled instead in order to preserve the course data for the student in case they return.
